Wilder has now been home 12 days from his last hospitalization and a total of 22 days in his short little life have been at home. The days have been long but so rewarding as we watch him grow and develop. He loves to sleep and hates waking up. Once he’s awake, he’s so alert and aware of what’s happening around him. He tracks Mom and Dad with his eyes and even turns his head to follow their voices or movements. If you sing to him, he’ll even sometimes coo along his own little version of the song.

He’s slowly building his bottle feeding skills. We try to offer him a bottle anytime he is awake and hungry. Sometimes he takes a few sips and sometimes more. Twice now he has taken 20 mls which is getting close to 1 oz.. He’s made great progress, but has a way to go to get to the 100 mls of milk he gets through his tube per feed.

This week was a busy one. We had his 2 month pediatrician visit and a visit with speech and swallow to check in on his feeding skills. He also had a blood draw and I (Amy) had a meeting both with birth to three and Katie Beckett Medicaid to start getting him enrolled in programs that will help him get the support he needs.

Pray for Wilder for him to continue to grow stronger and healthier every day. Pray he continues to develop his bottle feeding skills. Pray for Jesse and I for energy and focus despite a severe lack of sleep for me and severe heat exhaustion for Jesse.
