Happy one month to Wilder! As a one month birthday gift to him we got moved to a new floor/room. We are now in the PICU overflow. Still ICU care but they only put their less critical patients here because it is not the main PICU floor. The room is much larger and nicer than the PICU rooms we’ve had so far and we do not have a roommate. So thankful for this little gift as we have at least one more week here in the PICU. The trade off will be the construction noise between the hours of 9-11. 😳
Wilder is doing well and making progress in tolerating his feeds. He has worked up to 30 mls and today we will hopefully move up to 40 mls. A full feed for him will be in the 60-70 ml range. Right now he is taking all of his feeds via an ng tube. He has shown little interest in his bottle but we will keep trying. Once he gets to full feeds (Wednesday possibly) they will want to monitor him for a couple days to ensure no complications. As he moves up in feeds he will wean off of IV meds and nutrition. After that there will be a discussion of next steps(NICU at Saint Mary’s or home) and a lot of that will depend on where he is at with eating by mouth.
We are thankful for so much this week. A relatively uneventful week for Wilder with no additional complications. The progress he’s made with tolerating feeds again. Rain for the farm! We got over an inch with more on the way. God is good.
Prayer requests:
-that he starts to make progress in eating by mouth
-Grace and strength for another week in the PICU
