We road a bit of a rollercoaster over the last 24 hours. Yesterday morning I was discussing with his care team the possibility of him transferring to the NICU. As well we discussed an alternate possibility of him potentially coming home next week if we could get him to 50% on his feeds by mouth. Fast forward a few hours and Wilder showed us he had other plans.

After finding blood in his stool they ran a series of tests and discovered that he developed air in his bowel wall. This can quickly develop into something more serious but they were fairly confident they caught it early. They got him started on antibiotics and were monitoring him closely. Praise God, by his 6 am xray the issue has resolved. It appears we are out of the danger zone. However, due to all of this he will now need to go 7 days with no feeds to allow his bowels to fully heal. They have him on iv nutrition, but the poor buddy will have an empty belly for awhile. This is quite a setback as we won’t be able to work on his other goals of going home until this is resolved. We are feeling weary in this road we are traveling but we are so very thankful for each and everyone of you who are supporting us during this time. Thank you for all those who came and helped get our big spring planting done on the farm so that Jesse could be at the hospital more. Thank you to all of those have sent so many delicious healthy meals or gift cards/money to eat out. Thank you for all those who are praying and supporting us during this time.

Prayer requests:
-comfort for Wilder as he goes 7 days without a fully belly
-that this issue stays resolved and they can get to the bottom of why it occurred. It’s not an expected complication after the type of heart surgery he had.
-wisdom for his medical team
-continued strength for Jesse and I
-rain for the farm as Jesse is putting in extra hours trying to keep everything irrigated
