Asa was taken back this morning for an MRI to check for a tumor and any type of clotting that could be causing the swelling of his optic nerve. He began to get pretty overwhelmed with all the new sights and people he was meeting in radiology. I was able to walk him into the MRI room, sat him on the bed and held him while they pushed the sedation through his port. He fell asleep quickly and I was ushered out of the room so they could begin. They worked to get pictures of his head for over 1 hour, then took his bone marrow biopsy.
When we were able to see Asa again, he was coming out of sedation and then rested the remainder of the afternoon while we waited for the results of the MRI.
The Results: NO TUMOR OR CLOTTING showed on the MRI! We are praising the Lord for that big time! In talking to the doctors, it seemed they expected to find something. After hearing this good news, our minds quickly turned to if that is not causing his eye problems...what is?
Tomorrow he will have his lumbar puncture and they will measure the pressure in his spine. What the doctors find will help them determine the next steps, most likely involving neurology and ophthalmology again to find out what is causing the swelling of his optic nerve.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. It means so much to our family as we walk this journey that no parent ever wants to be on. God is ALWAYS good and we have seen Him at work in and through Asa already.
