Yesterday Asa had a lumbar puncture (LP) where they measured the pressure in his spinal fluid and gave him chemo. The pressure was elevated (33) and they had to bring it down to a normal level (20). Asa also had a CT scan done to rule out any other factors for the increased pressure. The CT scan came back clear!
Late in the afternoon we met with the neurologists who told us they believe he has Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH). They are unsure if it is connected to his leukemia/treatment. IIH is basically an unknown reason for increased pressure in the brain. They will monitor the pressure during his routine LPs and he will be taking a medication to regulate the pressure.
Overall we have seen some improvement with his eyes already! Asa was released from the hospital today around noon and is at home resting and is looking forward to going to church in the morning!
