Since coming home from the hospital on Saturday, it has been rough for us. Asa is having bad leg pain, nausea, and trouble sleeping since our routine altering hospital stay. Asa is struggling to walk and is constantly complaining about how his legs feel. He has woken up multiple times every night screaming in pain.
Today, we had an early morning clinic visit to begin the next phase of chemo (Induction 1B). This will be a 42 day phase and we are adding 2 new meds for our home routine. We had a long visit with a 5 hour infusion and did not leave until after 6pm. We were trained to give Asa a new chemo, via shot, that we will have to administer 3 times a week.
We are currently up to 9 medications a day, many of them 2 times a day, and are feeling slightly overwhelmed. We know that the medications are helping Asa heal but we struggle seeing him in pain and not acting like himself due to the medications. Ever since our last hospital stay, Asa has regressed with taking his medications.
Prayer requests:
1) That we can consistently and properly administer all of Asa's medications.
2) Asa will willingly take his medications.
Praises:
1) Medical team is great.
2) His eyes seem to continue to improve.

Your child feels your love in every moment. Just being there, holding their hand, means more than words can say. You are their anchor, their safe place, their hero.
It’s okay to be tired, scared, or overwhelmed. But don’t forget you are doing an amazing job in the hardest of circumstances.
You are not alone. One day, one breath at a time you’ve got this.
