Asa is nearing the end of week 5 of being in the hospital, one week in to the Consolidation 2 phase  of his treatment. This week and next he is getting the chemo injections which are causing bad leg pain. The nurses found him a small wheelchair and he's taken to it pretty quickly. He is able to navigate the hallways quite skillfully and enjoys being able to get around without having to walk/move his legs. Physical Therapy has been working with him a few times a week to monitor his mobility and keep him active.

The hospital has a lot of activities for the patients here and Asa has kept busy by playing bingo, crafts, he built a model car, painting, doing a scavenger hunt, and takes many visits to the library and Kids Zone.

We've met a lot of new people this stay and even run into a few people we know whose kids are here for treatment. We've connected with other parents and have built relationships with nursing staff we see frequently. We look for opportunities to bring God into conversations and try to give Him glory when people comment on our joy and peace.

We've learned a little bit about what the next few phases of treatment will look like for Asa and we will share more about that soon. We've been told that this current phase is one of the 3 hardest/most intense phases of his plan.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and help you.  I will uphold you with My victorious right hand." - Isaiah 41:10
