Treatment Day 22 began with a new route to the hospital due to bad traffic. We were a few minutes late to our appointment but thankfully they understood and we were almost immediately taken back to a room for treatment. After his labs were taken, we received word that his hemoglobin was low (5.7) and that he needed a blood transfusion.
Asa has been having some trouble with his eyes and after the doctor examined him, he determined that it could be from one of the chemo meds affecting the nerves/muscles in his eyes, causing them to appear "lazy". They cut the dosage of that chemo med in half today hoping to lessen the effect on his eyes.
After chemo, we moved to the infusion center at the hospital for Asa to receive his blood transfusion. During his 3 hour infusion (which we were originally told was 1 hour!), Asa got to enjoy a tasty pepperoni pizza and some "chips-that-burn-your-lips" (salt & vinegar chips). We are here now waiting for the infusion to complete so we can go home.

Prayer Requests:
- There is some confusion about one of his meds being approved by insurance. Please pray our case worker can get that approved so Asa can get the antibiotics he needs.
- That Asa would be able to get an appointment with the ophthalmologist soon to get him some help with his eyes.
- Wisdom for us (Austin & Juliana) as we balance parenting Asa and the other 3 kids during this journey.
Praises:
- Our van broke down about 2 weeks before Asa's diagnosis and we finally received our van back from the mechanic yesterday! Because it was due to an error they made while working on our van in the past, they completely covered the cost.
- Aside from his eye problems, Asa is responding well to treatment with minimal side effects.
Thank you all for the continued prayer and support! We could not do this without you.
