Back to Church!

Today Asa went to church for the first time since his diagnosis (a whole month ago!). While getting dressed for church he could hardly contain his excitement. Once at church he received a lot of attention, something he is not used to. He quickly became very shy, hiding his face in our leg or pulling his hat down over his eyes. He loved seeing some of his friends, carrying his camera around to take pictures with Juliana, and singing along to the songs in service as his brother and sister led worship (watch here). It was a good morning!

One of the biggest side effects Asa is experiencing is eye nerve/muscle problems due to one chemo med. His eyes are crossing causing him to have double vision and headaches and usually keeps one eye closed during the day to get relief. Asa has an ophthalmologist appointment on Wednesday. We are praying this is just a temporary side effect and that doctors can find a solution during treatment.

On Wednesday he will also go into deep sedation for a bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture and will receive another round of chemo. During our meeting with the doctors on Wednesday we will learn what his next cycle of chemo will look like.

Praises:
  • Asa is scheduled to see a opthamologist soon!
  • He is taking his medicine MUCH better now!
  • He was able to go to church today!

Prayer Requests
  • Eye appointment on Wednesday - that his eye problems are temporary and that doctors can find a solution/relief during treatment.
  • Wednesday will be a long day for us...pray for stamina, clear minds, and a good attitude for Asa.
  • Pray for Juliana in finding a new groove with homeschooling the kids this week.
