This past weekend was busy!

On Saturday, we watched the Portugal vs Colombia soccer match with my dad and brother, a simple but really nice time together as a family. Sunday started early with church, and later that evening we had Abigail’s Make-A-Wish reveal and send-off party. The event was such a special moment for our family. The Make-A-Wish Foundation volunteers, along with town staff, police officers, and what felt like the entire fire department, showed up to celebrate her.

A local pizza restaurant generously donated pizza and drinks, and another small business provided cupcakes, which the kids absolutely loved. When we finally told Gunnar and Abigail they are going to Disney World in just a few weeks, their excitement said it all.

On Monday, Gunnar had a doctor’s appointment, and yesterday our Humana case manager came by the house to check in on how Abigail is doing and make sure everything is on track with her care.

Today started very early—5 a.m.—as I headed to Charlottesville to share the short documentary about Abigail at a Rotary Club meeting. The members were incredibly kind and really seemed to connect with the film and what it shows: a day in the life of Abigail and our journey as a family.

We are now less than two weeks away from leaving for Abigail’s Make-A-Wish trip and about four weeks away from heading back to Boston. Life feels full right now, with a lot coming up quickly. Before we know it, the kids will be starting school again, and this busy season will turn into a new chapter.
