This past Thursday, CHOP reached out to me about the treatment plan they had put together for Abigail. I hadn’t spoken with CHOP since they examined her airway back in October, so hearing from them brought up a lot of thoughts and questions. 

 

After receiving their plan, I emailed it to Abigail’s ENT surgeon in Boston and asked for his thoughts. The main reason Devin and I did this was simply to make sure that every possible option for Abigail’s airway had been considered and we also wanted reassurance that nothing was being overlooked. 

 

He emailed me back and said that CHOP’s treatment plan was fine, but that there are different ways to approach the reconstruction surgery. I responded, thanking him for getting back to us and letting him know we would see him in April for surgery.  

 

Earlier today he sent us an email asking if he could call us on Monday to clarify somethings. I told him  Monday would work but that Devin would be at work, but that we were both available today if he happened to be free. To our surprise, he called us from his personal phone. 

 

He talked everything through with us, answered our questions, and came up with an even better plan. The surgery is still happening, and we now feel even more confident moving forward. 

 

I’ve never had a doctor call me on a weekend, let alone from their personal number. It was another confirmation that Boston is exactly where God wants us to be.

 

This entire process has been hard on Devin and me and has come with a lot of emotions. But through it all, God has continued to meet us with peace when we need it most. 

 

This upcoming week will be a busy one. Between both kids, we have seven appointments at the University of Virginia, with the first few starting on Monday. We would appreciate prayers as we head into another busy week of appointments.
