A Week We’ll Never Forget

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind, which is why I haven’t had a chance to sit down and write an update until now.

From July 13–19, our family was blessed to be part of Abigail’s Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World. Due to flight cancellations, we ended up staying a few extra days, which turned out to be an unexpected blessing. It was a trip we’ll remember forever. For one week, we were able to put appointments, surgeries, and medical worries on hold and enjoy being together as a family.

We packed so much into our trip! We visited all four Disney parks, Universal, Gatorland, and the Crayola Experience. It was a busy week, and although the weather wasn’t ideal—it was incredibly hot and rained almost every day—it didn’t stop us from making amazing memories.

Watching Abigail experience the magic of Disney was something I’ll never forget. Seeing her meet the characters, laugh, smile, and simply be a little girl without the focus being on hospitals or doctors meant more than words can describe. Gunnar also had an unforgettable time… and probably ate enough ice cream to last him the next year! 😂

One of the biggest blessings of the trip was staying at Give Kids The World. It truly is a special place filled with the most kindhearted people. Their mission is incredible, and I honestly believe they are doing God’s work by giving families like ours a chance to make priceless memories during difficult seasons of life.

We made it home last Thursday, and after unpacking and catching our breath, we’re already preparing for our next journey. This coming Tuesday, we’ll head to Boston for Abigail’s jaw reconstruction surgery.

As grateful as we are for the memories we made in Florida, we’re now shifting our focus back to the road ahead. We would appreciate your continued prayers for Abigail, her surgical team, especially on August 6.
