I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I got out of the hospital and my last post here! The first two weeks after I got out of the hospital I was going to the outpatient care center daily to get my lab work done and to make sure that I didn’t need anything such as blood products or electrolytes. Luckily I only needed magnesium during that time. I eventually got onto oral magnesium and got bumped down to twice a week!
Unfortunately, I’ve had a few infections since then. They are completely expected, as my immune system is compromised due to the medicines I’m taking to ensure that my cells don’t start fighting the donor cells. So far everything that I’ve had has been able to be brought under control easily although always so quickly.
I’m gaining strength every day - usually food motivated - as my dad and I walked a mile and a half up and back for good pizza.
Thanksgiving break was such a welcome change as Larry, my mother and the kids were able to come out here to Houston for the week. We spent time with family, had Thanksgiving dinner at Larry‘s cousin’s house, and got to explore Houston. My parents got to take a break from being caregivers for a few days and escaped to Galveston! Five friends from PA (since 4th grade!) are coming out this weekend and then in a few days after that Larry and my mom and the kids will return! The time will pass quickly and hopefully I will be home mid January.
