After the results of Becky’s last bone marrow biopsy were borderline negative but still showed residual cancer cells in the bone marrow, we decided to get a second opinion at MD Anderson in Houston Texas. It’s been a whirlwind few days since the initial appointment on  Monday and we have some definitive updates. 
 
The doctor without hesitation recommended a bone marrow transplant and we decided pretty quickly that Becky will have it at MD Anderson. The care is amazing and they perform far more transplants than other hospitals, so they are the best equipped to handle any complications that arise post transplant. 
 
In terms of immediate next steps, Becky started her next  round of chemo inpatient yesterday here for three days that started last night, then we fly home Sunday. 
 
The transplant will likely be in about 4-6 weeks and Becky will be in Houston for about 3.5 months total - 1 month inpatient and then 2 months of close monitoring staying within 10 minutes of the hospital. The plan is that her parents will once again leave Philly with her mom staying with Larry and the kids in Atlanta and her Dad with Becky in Houston. Visitors to Houston will be welcome! 
 
The team here has been amazing and social work will help with housing. We’ll have lots to figure out and will certainly need support again once Becky begins the transplant process! For now we’re in good spirits as usual and happy to have answers and a path forward for long term health.  There will be much more to come and we thank everyone for their continued support!
