The Sernovitz Family
It’s been awhile since we’ve updated the site as there’s not much news to share since the last one. Becky has had plenty of rest this past week after all the kids hopped on the bus to Barney Medintz overnight camp for almost 4 weeks!
We were waiting for the results of the most recent bone marrow biopsy to determine next steps for a possible bone marrow transplant. The doctors want no cancer cells detected to proceed with only chemo. The results were not conclusive enough, as they were borderline detected in the marrow but not in the blood. The Emory team wanted to wait for this month of chemo and do another biopsy at the end of June to see if the cells went down further or were undetectable.
Becky decided to seek a second opinion and has an appointment at MD Anderson in Houston on Monday June 23 where they will likely do their own tests as well as reviewing previous results. We’ll probably be there for a few days and then will wait and see what the recommendations are for next steps - potentially one more round of chemo or a bone marrow transplant. Hoping for good guidance and easy decisions ahead!
