Here is the long, short update. Willow was admitted to the hospital 5/15 with an extremely high fever. Labs also showered her ANC was 0 she had no immune sy tem and showing serious sighs. That something was wrong. Within 12 hours minor abdominal pain became major abdominal pain, she was unable to walk, stand up straight or sit for very long without her stomach hurting. It was quickly realized that the abdominal pain was worsening, so she was taken for a CT where she was diagnosed with telfitis. At the same time we found out about the telfitis blood cultures were coming back from the ER visit the night before positive. Willow was septic. Very quickly. She was put multiple antibiotics and not allowed to eat or drink water. Doctors warned us that this would take a while. It wasn't going to be a short process, and they weren't wrong. 36 hours later Willow was started on TPN total nutrition through her port. She would stay that way for the next 12 days. After 12 days she was allowed to trial water after water by to food. 14 days later she was released from the hospital. She's home now and doing amazing! Eating drinking and eating without problem. Last week's visits told us her body still isn't fully recovered from the harsh chemo of last round. Today she goes to clinic to see how her body is doing and if she is ready to start the next and final round of front line chemo. Positive thoughts as we are hopefuly entering the "easier" part of this journey!
