9/7/2026 Update on Bryan Kirby:
We are blown away and beyond belief at the tremendous outpouring of love, generosity, prayers and support for Bryan, Katie and Ellie.
Because Katie is inundated with such enormous love, she is unable to reply directly to each of you to send her gratitude. But your support is not unheard or unfelt. Katie wishes to share from the bottom of her heart, thank you. There are not enough words or thanks that could equate to the love she and Bryan are feeling right now. To our family, neighbors, Redtail Ranch customers and clients, the Southeastern Reining Horse Association, loved ones of loved ones, friends, acquaintances and strangers, the tremendous outpouring of prayers, financial gifts, gas gift cards, donations, volunteers ready to rally for remodeling, and beyond, thank you. Katie wants to be clear: she and Bryan can feel God surrounding them. He is felt and working for them through all of you: the incredible kindness of humanity.
An update on Bryan's injury and recovery:
After suffering a tragic horse accident, Bryan sustained a broken back, severed spinal cord, broken sternum and ribs which has resulted in paralysis from the waist down. He has undergone a successful back surgery and with support of his incredible spinal cord team at Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, has had sensation in both his left leg and toe! This news is incredibly miraculous and encouraging. Bryan is feeling strong, determined and motivated. He will undergo a second surgery tomorrow, 9/8/2026, to repair his fractured sternum. This surgery will directly impact his ability to breathe more easily and reduce his risk of pneumonia.
Today, Bryan is sitting up! We are optimistic he will transition from ICU today or tomorrow. At that point, Ellie will be able to visit him. For now, Ellie has stayed busy and enjoyed a fun weekend with family.
We continue to humbly ask for your prayers, shares and financial assistance so that we can focus on what matters most: Bryan's recovery, Katie's stability and supporting Ellie navigate this new journey with her dad.
