A little update on Brooklyn

It's been a busy and unexpected past week. After having her Ommaya reservoir placed, she ended up staying in the hospital from Wednesday to Saturday instead of just one night. Then, we ended up having to go back to the hospital on Monday due to Brooklyn's pain around her Ommaya reservoir continuing to increase instead of getting better. We originally thought her pain was from the Ommaya surgery, but it turned out she also needed a blood transfusion. 

She’s been feeling pretty nauseous. They gave her a nausea patch that seemed to help until yesterday afternoon. She’s also been pretty tired and sleeping quite a bit. 

Unfortunately, her liver is not very happy right now. Her bilirubin has gone back up, which has caused more yellowing (jaundice). The oncologist adjusted a couple of her meds, and they will run her labs today to check her liver numbers again. 

Along with four days of chemotherapy this week, today, she will have surgery to place her chest port and have her PICC line removed. We should be going home today. 🤞
