Yesterday, we made the trip to the oncologist for Liam's clinic checkup. We received a great report, and his counts are doing exactly what the doctors expected at this stage of treatment. We are so thankful for that answer to prayer.

But when we got home, another reality of this journey hit.

Liam noticed that his hair was starting to fall out quickly.

For those who grew up watching VeggieTales, you may remember the silly song, "No Hair for My Hairbrush." We've tried to laugh about it and keep our sense of humor, but if we're being honest, there were tears too.

As Liam's dad buzzed his head last night, the reality of what his body is enduring became a little more visible. Cancer treatment isn't just appointments, scans, medications, and hospital stays. It's watching your child face things no child should have to face. It's seeing physical reminders of a battle being fought every single day which reminds me of another song that we like to reference frequently in our family “This is How I Fight My Battles”.

There were tears from Liam. There were tears from Mom. And there was Dad standing strong for his family.

We're grateful that hair is something treatment can take and eventually give back. Right now, we'll trade every strand for healing. Every single one.

Thank you for continuing to pray for Liam, for strength during radiation and chemotherapy, for protection from illness as his immune system drops, and for our entire family as we navigate each new step of this journey.

For now, there may be no hair for his hairbrush—but there is still courage in his heart, hope in our home, and faith in the God who walks with us through all of it.
