The Gurbal Fam
Despite our best efforts, after 19 glorious days at home as a FAMILY, John has been readmitted to CHOA.
He was making incredible strides right after he came home. He was finally getting the hang of bottle feeding and was taking almost half of his milk by mouth. His cold symptoms started 2 weeks ago and it has been a slow downward spiral since then.
We’ve been doing absolutely everything we can do to help keep him in a good spot at home- breathing treatments, so much suctioning, tummy naps, constant nasal irrigation, steroid nose drops, keeping him upright as much as possible, constantly turning the bathroom into a steam room… despite it all- his desire to eat and ability to keep his tube feeds down has been an issue. He has started losing weight. Urine output is mediocre. Hasn’t taken a bottle in days. High heart rate and continued difficulty breathing.
We tried our best, but unfortunately, yet again, John needs more help than we can give him at home. Our hope was that this would be a short stay, but his oxygen needs are extremely high and it’s probable he’s headed back to the ICU.
Please pray for our boy and his tiny little lungs.
