Successful Surgery!

Hi everyone! I am laying comfortably in our adjustable base tempurpedic bed and wanted to provide you with an update on surgery. It went great! The doctors said I did well during both stages (double mastectomy and reconstruction) with no complications.

The BEST news is that initial tests indicated my sentinel lymph nodes were benign! What a relief. Final pathology will come back in about 7-10 days to confirm those findings.

My skin and tissue were also very healthy which indicates good remaining blood flow. This also means I was healthy enough to go straight into reconstruction AND was able to go direct-to-implant. That means no more surgeries for reconstruction.

I’ve got two drains but they aren’t bothering me and Chris has been wonderful in handling them for me. He’s also my pharmacist and has my medication schedule on lock. The pain is unreal so the meds are a godsend. I feel like my rib cage got crushed.

I’ve got six weeks of recovery ahead of me, but the hardest parts (chemo and surgery) are behind me. I am so thankful to be at this point.
