The Givehand Family
Hello family & friends,
Thank you for continuing to engage & comment here on the update page. It warms my heart to see so many names I know and recognize and to see the names of those with whom Damon & I have not been in touch with in years. You all remind me of the beautiful life Damon and I had together over the last 40 years and all the many things we experienced as best friends, lovers, and soulmates. He liked to say..."What a time to be alive".
Please save the date for a Celebration of Life to honor how alive he was and all that he did to live the life he lived. Damon was a humble soul who strived to live a simple and uncomplicated life. He believed in rituals & routines; easy gatherings, creating tiny moments of sacredness in the midst of the mundane; and he believed that laughter, sunshine, and music were all medicine for the soul. So, in honoring that, we are going to have a humble, simple, laughter & music filled ceremony to honor who he was.
DATE: Saturday September 12, 2026
TIME: 2 to 3:30PM Central
LOCATION: Pensacola, Florida -- RSVP will be required due to size restrictions & the location details will be provided.
ATTIRE: Damon HATED dressing up for funerals or any occasion for that matter, AND he LOVED any event that allowed him to be comfortable, put on his best "sneakers" and favorite t-shirt. His favorite color was green because it represents the heart chakra (our ability and capacity to give & receive love). So, to honor who he was we invite you to wear your favorite green attire. Feel free to dress it up, dress it down or to simply wear green sneakers if you've got them. Any shade of green is fine. No pressure.
I'll be wearing a green shirt of some sort, jeans, and green sneakers. Just so you know it really is okay to come as you are.
We know that not everyone can travel to attend, so we are working on a way to POSSIBLY livestream a portion of the celebration. Stay tuned for details.
In lieu of sending flowers, we will have a way for you to donate to a scholarship fund for a variety of educational opportunities that Damon cared deeply about. Stay tuned.
Thank you for your continued support, love, and attention to this journey.
Deep gratitude,
Kiala
