We want to share a brief update about asking for help. If you have more than 3 children, your options for an accessible vehicle decrease significantly. Our family has grown through foster care and adoption, and each child who comes into our home carries both joy and loss. We hold their stories with great care. SirMichael was adopted into our family through foster care. Our 8 year old and 7 year old will become part of our family through adoption in the new year, and we also have another foster placement who has been with us for nearly three years. Their stories belong to them, and we want to help maintain their dignity as they grow.

Asking for help has been difficult. Some of that is simply pride, though most of it is our desire to honor our children’s experiences without sharing more than we should. We have pursued a few grants, though many funding opportunities require public storytelling or reporting that does not feel right for our family, so we are turning mainly to our community instead.

We are grateful for everyone who chooses to help us financially. Your support helps us get closer to meeting the mobility needs of SirMichael while caring for each child in a way that attempts to respect and protect what is sacred in their stories. We are grateful for every person who chooses to walk with us in this way.
