The Dawson Family
First we want to say how grateful we are for everyone who has supported us thus far. We are at 15% of our goal, which is absolutely amazing.
We are asking for help so we can purchase a wheelchair-accessible van (WAV) to provide SirMichael with safe transportation that also allows our family to ride together.
We are now family of seven with children ranging from 8 weeks to 8 years old. SirMichael (6) has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy. He depends on us for mobility, positioning, and frequent attention while traveling.
As SirMichael grows, his needs and equipment grow as well. Driving around town and traveling to see family has become much more difficult. His chair weighing nearly 60 pounds and SirMichael weighing over 50 pounds, it has become harder to lift and secure him safely in his current car seat. He is quickly outgrowing the last seating option that still worked for him. His wheelchair is becoming the only safe way for him to travel.
We have looked at many van options, and have narrowed it down to a few which would work our family. However, mobility vans cost A LOT more than standard vehicles. We are grateful for every person who comes alongside us. Your support brings us closer to a vehicle that will allow SirMichael to travel safely and give our family the space we need to ride together without crowding or rearranging equipment each time we leave the house.
