We thank the Lord that Simeon is now stable, but his recovery from his heart surgery last Friday has been a bit slower than anticipated. Simeon has been mostly sedated since the surgery and remains intubated (aka, on ventilation) owing to an infection in his lungs he developed along with the complications from his prior preemie lung disease. This coincided with several days of frequent and significant sudden drops in his heart rate as well as very low desaturations; a pace maker was used to help mitigate the severity of these events. Though it broke my heart, this has all meant that we as parents have had to be much more hands off in terms of directly touching and engaging him in order to allow his body more time to rest and recover.

- his lung infection goes away entirely
- he can be extubated (off ventilation) by this weekend and that he does not experience complications from this extended period of ventilation
- his lungs heal quickly so that after ventilation he does not require CPAP for long, if at all
Ben and I are very weary. We are acutely aware that we may have many more weeks (if not a few months) in the hospital ahead of us.
Please pray for:
- strength and wisdom for me and Ben
- physical health for the whole family
- the Lord's clear provision for the complicated and overwhelming needs of each day
