A brief update at the end of a long day: Praise the Lord!! Simeon's heart surgery was successful! Simeon is stable and has been recovering very well today. He remains sedated and intubated. We are exhausted, relieved, and so grateful, and we have been impressed in every way with the medical care and expertise at Texas Children's.

When Simeon's body is ready, the next step will be to remove intubation and see what form of support his lungs need. The hope is that this surgery will enable Simeon to more quickly step down from significant breathing support so that he can begin learning how to eat by mouth. Only when Simeon is off breathing support and can eat by mouth can he then come home. And of course, then he'll return for the big open heart repair a few months from now.

Please pray:
  • Praise the Lord with us for a successful surgery and for the skill of the OR team!
  • Pray for a continued smooth recovery with no ensuing complications.
  • Pray Simeon can wake up soon and come off intubation.
  • Pray Simeon can be weaned quickly from CPAP and additional oxygen support needs.
