Greyson has had a busy day. This afternoon they decided to go ahead and do the liver biopsy. So around 2pm today, he went down to Interventional Radiology and they went in through a vein in his neck and pulled out several pieces of his liver. Doing the biopsy this way significantly reduces the risk for Greyson so we are glad they were able to do it and are praying they have enough samples to help them identify what is going on with his liver.
This evening he is going to have a BAL. This is a test where they will add fluids to his lungs, and then suction it out and test the fluid. They are hoping this will help them identify what fungal infection he has in his lungs so they can better target it.
Tomorrow he is going to get an MRI of his liver and gallbladder. They are doing the MRI to get a better look at his liver and gallbladder to see if there is a blockage they can’t see on the ultrasounds.
They have been unable to wean his ventilator today. They tried this morning, but had to go back up on his ventilator settings because he started desating.
This evening, he will also receive a dose of the short-acting infusion for his aHUS. They are doing the short-acting one as opposed to the long-acting infusion he usually receives so that they will be able to give it more often if needed. 💚🧡🎗️
