Greyson continues to be very jaundiced. His bilirubin climbed significantly yesterday. His liver numbers look about the same but they remain very high. They are still discussing doing the treatment for the liver that involves placing a big line, and drawing out the blood from the liver to treat it and then returning it. Right now, they are discussing starting that next week. This is a temporary treatment that may buy them some time.
They are going to get another ultrasound and doppler of his liver today and are still considering doing a liver biopsy.
Greyson had an issue with his new port yesterday. The port appears to be working but the medicine he was receiving through it has leaked into the tissue surrounding it. They have done an ultrasound and x-ray on it and IR (Interventional Radiology) is going to come have a look at it today.
They are going to start him back on feeds today at a very small rate and see if he can tolerate it.
His kidney numbers are starting to rise and they are concerned he is developing an acute kidney injury. They are watching this closely.
His chest X-ray today was slightly improved. They are encouraged about this in regard to his lungs though there is still ongoing concern for a fungal infection in his lungs.
They weaned his vent a little bit this morning and will continue to wean today if they are able. His ventilator settings are still very high and they are giving him a lot of support. They are encouraged they are able to wean but he is a very long way from being able to extubate. They said that now he is intubated again, they can see how hard he was having to work when he was on bipap. 💚🧡🎗️
