Greyson was stable overnight. He received platelets last night, and had a blood transfusion this morning.
They are going to try to wean his sedation a bit today and do a CPAP trial if they are able to. We are headed down to MRI shortly so he will be getting extra sedation for that.
Greyson’s Karius test (the one that looks at bacterial and viral DNA) came back and showed a new positive for a virus. He was not previously positive for this virus but they have been watching out for it. It can get into the spinal fluid and brain and cause inflammation and the weird hand movements he was having! They are doing an MRI today to get a better look at what is going on and if it shows inflammation, they will likely do a LP to see what’s in his spinal/cerebral fluid. They are going to go ahead and start the treatment for this virus while they wait on MRI results because they are getting concerned. Greyson’s low heart rates and now higher blood pressure are clinical changes that are starting to be concerning to the doctors.
Greyson’s weight over the last two days is significantly higher than it was previously. There is a lot of discussion on if he could be holding this much fluid or if the weights are inaccurate. They are going to reevaluate after he is weighed today.
They have decided not to do a bronchoscopy for now.
They are still concerned that he has GVHD of the gut. He has been off of feeds for 48+ hours and is continuing to have very loose stools. They are going to continue to hold his feeds and keep an eye on this for now. 💚🧡🎗️
