Letting Healing Lead

Today was a steady, full day…one that carried both important medical conversations and quiet moments in between.

Chelsea’s care team continues to carefully adjust and monitor her medications as part of her recovery plan. She remains on a simplified regimen, with daytime and nighttime supports focused on consistency and rest. These steps are being taken gradually and thoughtfully, with close observation.

During daily rounds, the team reviewed her progress and discussed upcoming follow‑ups, including coordination with specialty services and continued neurological monitoring. Chelsea also completed CT imaging this afternoon, one of several pieces of the puzzle her care team uses to guide ongoing decisions.

Chelsea stayed engaged in therapies throughout the day. In physical therapy, she worked on balance and coordination through interactive activities that challenged movement and focus in a playful, approachable way. Seeing therapy woven into moments of fun continues to be encouraging.

In speech therapy, the focus remained on reading and language skills. Chelsea is working through reading related challenges and mild expressive and receptive language difficulties. Today’s work included letter identification, oral rereading, sight word practice, and structured repetition. Some of these strategies will continue to be used both over the weekend and, in the future, at home.

Today also included neuropsychology  testing that helped us better understand how Chelsea’s brain is processing information right now. Some areas, like problem solving, are showing strengths, while others, especially attention and reading comprehension, currently take more effort. The emphasis remains on protecting Chelsea’s energy, reducing overload, and giving her brain the time and space it needs to heal. We talked through pacing, listening closely to her body, and building in rest when fatigue or headaches appear. Simple supports like predictable routines, visual schedules, alternating activity with downtime, good nutrition, hydration, and quality sleep were all reinforced as meaningful parts of recovery. We also discussed future school planning, with the understanding that returning to academics will take time and flexibility. A re‑entry plan will be  completed by the care team and will eventually be shared with the school, and short‑term learning options at home remain on the table. What matters most right now is allowing Chelsea’s healing to lead the way, knowing decisions can evolve.

As always, we are deeply grateful for the care surrounding Chelsea and for the steady love and support surrounding our family. Your prayers, messages, and quiet encouragement continue to carry us more than you know.💗
