Today had a little March Madness energy to it…not because anything dramatic changed overnight, but because progress showed up in visible, encouraging ways.
Chelsea had pool therapy, and yes…she got to shoot hoops. Today’s PT focus included walking steps in the pool with light support, small jumps, and a basketball-based activity designed to work on balance and torso control. The pool continues to be a great environment for safely challenging movement while reducing strain…and watching her line up shots was a reminder of how much joy she finds in being active.
Speech therapy was quieter but just as meaningful. Chelsea read a short passage and was able to recall key details with minimal prompting. It’s steady work that doesn’t always look dramatic from the outside, but it’s an important part of building stamina, attention, and processing.
We also had a follow up from a neuro specialist this week. The plan moving forward includes continued monitoring over time, with routine checkups. CT imaging will likely continue to show healing changes for a while, which is expected and part of the process. Overall, we felt supported, informed, and focused on consistent recovery rather than rushing anything. Plus Chelsea got to give him a big hug…which brought a huge smile, especially considering how she was doing the first time they met when she was admitted.
What today reminded us most is something rehab keeps teaching us: this is not about a buzzer‑beater. It’s about showing up for each possession…pace, rest, therapy, repeat. Some days are grind‑it‑out days. Others come with small victories that lift everyone’s spirits. Today gave us a few of those.
Thank you, as always, for continuing to lift Chelsea up with prayers, encouragement, and patience. We feel it…and so does she.💗
