Chelsea Brem and Family
A friend shared a few weeks ago that she feels like she’s standing at the intersection of patience and urgency. Funny how that sentiment fits so perfectly where we are right now with Chelsea.
Little Miss had a rough night and was pretty uncomfortable, with lots of movement and restlessness—but she’s still showing that stubborn personality we all know and love. Because she was so active, the team brought in a safety sitter to stay at her bedside, who arrived early this morning.
Today has been a quieter day. Chelsea is resting comfortably and getting the calm her body needs. After 11 days in the PICU at WakeMed Children’s Hospital, she finally got some much needed “spa time.” Her hair was washed, deep conditioned, and braided. Huge thanks to our friend who bought all the hair products and combs/brush and the incredible care team, including our Nurse Tech, Chelsea (yes—same name!🤩) for making that happen. It meant more than they probably realize.
We also met Douglas Fur (aka Dug), the therapy dog, in the hallway today. What a sweet boy. Somehow, dogs always seem to know exactly what you need even when you don’t. (And for those who know, you know that says a lot.) Chelsea didn’t get to meet Dug yet, but we know she’s going to love him just as much as we did or even more when the time comes.
Thank you for continuing to walk with us, love on Chelsea, and hold space for us as we live in this place of patience and urgency. 💕
