The Bozell Family
Hi there! Here are a few updates on Mike from the past few days.
- Mike got his CT scan results back. Unfortunately, his CT scan showed a baseball sized mass that is pushing up against his bowels. This might be the reason why his bowels aren't "waking up". The surgeon hopes that this mass is a hematoma or a pocket of fluid. They do not want to do anything with the mass just yet because he wants my dad to be stronger and he is hoping the mass will just absorb back into his body. They will do another CT scan in 2 weeks to see if this mass has grown or not. If it grows, they will talk about what to do.
- The results from his chest xray showed no improvement to his left lung. Luckily, his right lung shows improvement. Unfortunately, the lungs will just improve naturally once he starts moving around more.
- Yesterday Mike was able to eat solid food for the first time since March 9th! They gave him a turkey sandwich. He took 2 bites and said he was full. That is ok though because it is progress!
- The urologist is hoping to pull his catheter out today. This is exciting but Mike is a little nervous because that means he's going to have to unplug all of his cords everytime he has to use the bathroom. He still will have his nephrostomy bag for a bit while his body heals.
- His WBC were at a normal level which is great news! They are going to do more blood work to check all of his levels.
- Mike's wounds are looking a bit better which is great. They are still coming in to clean and change the bandages regularly.
- His blood pressure is elevated. He's been on a lot of medication and is still in pain so they are not overly worried about it.
- The doctors are going to meet and see about hopefully sending him home shortly with a home nurse. This would be amazing for him since he can at least be at home with his family and cats. He really misses his cats. They are all best buddies.
Thank you again for the continued prayers! I will continue to write updates as we get results and more information. We love you all!
