The Bozell Family
Happy Friday! It has officially been 25 days since Mike's original surgery. This day is special because... Mike is finally HOME! His team of doctors decided that sending Mike home to finish his recovery will be more beneficial. They set him up with a home health nurse that will come everyday in the afternoon. She will administer his IV antibiotic for the remaining Sepsis and she will also be cleaning his wounds daily. The home health nurse will be teaching my mom how to clean his different bags and administer meds through his PICC line. Mike still has a long road of recovery. He still has his nephrostomy bag which is not permanent. Any movement of that tube can cause issues in draining his kidney. His left lung is still struggling. Mike is also still in a lot of pain and doesn't have any energy. However, we already see improvement both physically and mentally from him since he has been at home. The cats (Hazel & Oliver) were so excited to see him and our family is glad that he is out of the depressing hospital rooms. He now is able to sit on the porch, walk around the pool, and get up when he wants. Just doing these little things will help him heal so much quicker. Unfortunately, this recovery will be just like bed rest. He won't be able to do much.
He called me last night and told me he wanted me to update the "blog". This is what he wanted me to say; "Please say how grateful I am for the prayers, kind words, and donations. I felt so much love. There were days where I almost knew I wasn't going to make it through. All of their prayers are what kept me going. Tell them I said thank you from the bottom of my heart". We are all so very thankful. Thank you for praying for my dad and lifting him up. We love you!
This will not be the last update. Since we still have hurdles coming up, such as, 1 or 2 more surgeries, lung improvement, wound healing, a hematoma, and infections... I will still continue to keep everyone updated.
Psalms 107:1 "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever."
