The Bozell Family
Hi guys! Mike had a big start to his day today!
- He moved to a step down room! He was so very excited about this big move. I called him last night and the first thing he said was "I got a room with a view!". He now has two big windows looking at trees, his very own bathroom, and more room to spread out. This room is in between ICU and the regular surgery stay rooms. He will still be watched frequently, just not as much as in the ICU but more than the regular rooms. Tricia and I think this big move is exactly what he needed right now. Mike was feeling a bit depressed and sitting in the ICU was just overall depressing. Now he is able to see that he is making progress towards going home!
- The infectious disease doctor came in this morning and ran a rapid test on his bacteria that was causing his sepsis. It showed to be a very specific and sensitive bacteria that she can treat with something different than what he is currently on. She said that it should work better and doesn't foresee any reason why it won't work.
- His blood pressure has been high lately which has been a bit concerning. The surgeon called in a vascular team and said that they will be keeping an eye on his BP. This morning it was reading 138/87.
- We are still waiting on his belly to wake up so he can try to eat foods. The surgeon is trying my dad on protein shakes to help get him a bit more energy. This will not only help his bowels but also his lungs.
- His platelets are about the same as yesterday. We are still watching those.
- Mike will be getting an xray tomorrow to check up on his lungs to see if there is any improvement. His pain in his lung is less today to hopefully that's a sign of improvement.
- The surgeon cleaned his wounds today and said they are looking better. They mentioned that Tricia may need to clean and pack his wounds WHEN he gets HOME! She told me that I will need to do it because it made her queezie.
Please pray that his numbers keep improving. Pray that his belly wakes up, and his lungs show improvement. Please continue to pray that he does not catch any infections or that any other issues come up. Pray that his blood pressure returns to normal.
We are so excited that he is getting better everyday. I know he is so very excited to go home too. I thank God everyday for the healing and protection of my dad. I couldn't do it without my dad. Thank you again to everyone who has donated and continue to pray over him. We love you all so much!
