Hi everyone! Sorry I didn't update last night. Mike's nights seem to be rough usually. He has had the best nurse the last two nights, Deanna, who is really thorough and we so appreciate that. She is so good and thorough that it makes my mom Tricia a little nervous because she finds new things. Which is great but scary at the same time.
  • He is still running a temp of 100.9.
  • His new kidney tubing that goes into the bag is catching small blood clots and is getting clogged so the nurse did an ultrasound on that area and sent the images in. The infectious disease doctor said that it is pretty normal after having a tube put into your kidney and out your side. Of course it will bleed.
  • They are going to do another CT scan today to make sure he is still not leaking, no internal bleeding, or blood clots.
  • His white blood count is up today from 20,000 to 23,000. His hemoglobin went from 9.2 to 9.8.
  • He is having more difficulties breathing. Unfortunately, it looks like both of his lungs are almost collapsed. The respiratory therapist is constantly doing breathing exercises and treatments with him. The CT scan will also give a better picture as to what his lungs look like.
  • His legs and feet are pretty swollen today. So they want to get him moving around a bit and up and walking.
  • They also swabbed him for MRSA, Flu, Covid, and RSV just to double check he doesn't have any of those. They are also running cultures of his urine to make sure there is nothing going on. They swabbed both of his bags (colostomy, and nephrostomy) and are culturing them to see if there is any bacteria or infection.
Both Mike and Tricia got around 3 hours of sleep last night which is a huge win for them. Tricia has not left Mike's side as he is her very best friend. We will update after the CT scan. My mom wants me to thank everyone over and over again for all the support. It means so much to her and our whole family. We love you all!

This is all so difficult! So many complications from his first surgery. We pray that God will miraculously turn things around for Mike. We give Him the glory for what He will do! Praying regularly throughout the day. We have people from our church praying, too. Sending love and hugs. 🙏💙

Thank you for the thorough updates, Kailey. For those of us far away it helps us to know what to pray for—which I do so frequently throughout the day. Tell your Dad that we saw his “old chief” (Dave Johnson) yesterday and he is in the loop on your dad and sends his best to all of you too! Give your mom a hug for me!
