From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has continued to surround Jon and his family with such incredible generosity, prayers, love, and thoughtfulness throughout this journey.

Please continue to keep Jon, Kristen, Chloe, and Declan in your prayers as they face the next chapter of Jon’s healing and recovery. We pray for strength, comfort, peace, and healing in the days ahead, and for Kristen and the kiddos as they continue to walk this difficult road beside him.

Your prayers and support mean more than words can express. ❤️

I am sharing the update below on behalf of Kristen.

Today brought a little bit of both encouraging news, and news we had really hoped we wouldn’t hear.

The biggest praise is that Jon’s right arm will not need surgery! We are so incredibly thankful for that. After watching parts of that arm deepen over the last week, hearing that his body is healing it on its own feels like such a gift.

His left arm and hand, however, will need skin grafting on Friday. This is a big surgery and covers alot of real estate on that arm. We have prayed so hard for his body to be able to do the healing itself, so learning that this area will need surgical help is difficult. At the same time, we are grateful his burn team knows exactly how to move forward and give those areas the best chance to heal.

Tomorrow he will have another wound cleaning before surgery so they can determine the exact extent of what needs to be grafted and finalize Friday’s surgical plan.

There are still so many encouraging signs. His face is healing beautifully. His ears, nose and mouth are moving a little slower, but they are healing too, and every bit of progress feels significant right now.

His hands remain incredibly painful, and his left leg is also causing him significant pain. There is still a long road ahead.

Thursday will bring another big moment for our family. The kids are coming to see Jon for the first time since the accident. We’ve intentionally waited until Jon’s face had begun healing and until he was in a place where we felt they were ready to see him. Having us together before he goes into surgery on Friday feels incredibly important — and I know it will be a bit emotional.

Thank you for continuing to follow Jon’s story, for praying for him, checking on our family, and carrying us through this. We truly feel surrounded by so much love.

Right now, we are praying specifically for continued healing, encouraging news from tomorrow’s wound cleaning, a sweet and reassuring reunion with the kids on Thursday, and a successful grafting surgery on Friday. And today, we are holding tightly to the very good news that we are pointed in the right direction for healing ❤️
