Teddie’s Journey To A Cure
🧸 Day +2
We’ve officially entered one of the toughest stretches of the transplant journey — the pre-engraftment phase. This is when Teddie’s little body begins to feel the full weight of everything she’s been through: the chemo, the transplant, and now the slow work of rebuilding from the inside out.
Last night was hard. Teddie woke up very sick, and today it’s clear her body is under stress. The treatment she received doesn’t just target cancer cells — it also affects healthy cells that grow quickly, like those in the mouth, throat, and digestive tract. The mucous lining will shed in the process. Mucositis is painful and unavoidable, but we’re doing our best to be proactive with treatment. Her team has seen a lot of success with red light therapy.
To help her rest and ease the pain, she’s been started on a low-dose morphine drip. Her heart rate is a bit high — a normal response to pain — but her care team is watching everything closely and reassuring us that this is all part of the process.
These next few days (through about Day +7) are often the hardest part of transplant. But beyond this stretch is healing — once her new cells begin to engraft, things will slowly start to turn.
So today, we’re focusing on what we can control: keeping her comfortable, giving her space to rest, and surrounding her with love.
Teddie is strong. Even through the discomfort, her light and spirit are still with us — brave, beautiful, and fighting.
💛 Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Every day, we’re one step closer.
