One week update

What a week. Last Thursday my team decided I needed to go in to the ER after several days of severe head pain and nausea. The ER brought me in for a brain MRI where we learned there was Now a tumor in my right frontal lobe. This was not surprising as metaplastic often goes to the brain, but definitely shocking and overwhelming to learn. We spent the next week prepping for neurosurgery and figuring out what my hospice plan would look like. After lots of meetings and specialists, we decided I would go home for hospice care for after surgery as ive decided to end all active treatments with this new metastasis. Ive been feelings really nervous and wanting to protect our kids from the scary stuff, but after connecting deeply with one of the hospice social workers and my friends, I realized we've been protecting them and setting the foundation for them to navigate through the scary stuff, and we can't always stop it from happening. We decided  they would do better to spend time together with us both at home. The neurosurgeons were able to remove the complete tumor on Tuesday and I got home Friday - fast turn around!! We were pretty quickly validatedin that decision to go home- we snuggled, cried, and got to decorating our room asap! The kids knew exactly what to do :) we've been so blessed with support and love, as usual.  Now is the new normal - just llowing others to support me, taking each day slowly, and spending as much time together as qw can. I truly didn't think I'd be back home so I'm mindfully soaking up every detail I can. The hospital workers re helping us figure out the financial pieces to cover my loss of income and Adam will stay working as much as possible.

Thank you for every message, prayer, and kind thought sent our way. I tried to respond but dome got lost in the shuffle so please know we appreciate everything!!

Til next time,
Elizabeth and Adam ♥️

As a cancer warrior and mom it makes you cherish each and every single moment with your children and spouse. I’m so happy to hear that you have more time to spend with them. Life is so unfair… my heart hurts so badly for you, as I can relate to what you’re experiencing. Sending you the biggest and gentlest hug.

My heart goes out to you all. You’ve been in my daily intentions! I’m so glad you made it back home! You’ve been fighting this journey of cancer fuckery with such grace. Sorry life has dealt you this-it’s not fair. Thanks for all you have been to my family-cute outfits you’d put together for Audrey, amazing patience with Riley, doing creative things with them like the string Easter eggs that we still have and they say every year, I remember when Elizabeth made these with us. To name just a few. You’re an amazing soul and we’re blessed our paths crossed. Love you!
