Hello, hello!
Dad is back to walking on his own two feet! He had his first Physical Therapy appointment this past week, and he walked to the car and back. He’s been walking all over the house, and the PT even okayed him to drive himself to see Mom today. Look out world! Sir Steve is on the move.
My Mama isn’t doing as well. Between her anxiety at being somewhere that isn’t her home, her brain’s lack of ability to remember why she is there, and her fear when she can’t find Dad, she’s been waking up in the middle of the night crying out for help. 😩 The care team has been so attentive and loving every time it happens, but we hate that she’s experiencing such moments of fear. To top it off, she’s fighting another UTI. Thankfully, her PCP adjusted her sleeping medication to assist her with sleeping through the night and she got antibiotics onboarded. Please be praying for the night terrors to cease and the antibiotics to fight off the infection (please, God, keep us out of the hospital)!
With as well as Dad is doing, he’s hoping to bring Mom home Saturday 8/22. Before then, the house will be deep cleaned and some of the extra equipment moved to the garage to make room for Mom. Here’s to getting some normalcy back!
I’m thankful for long time friends of Dad’s who have taken him to see a movie, put together a recliner, stopped by with a meal and to chat, and for a friendly postman who checks in him. I’m thankful for the many visitors Mom has had these past few weeks. I’m thankful for the outpouring of generosity that allowed us to traverse this without financial worry. What a gift to be loved by this community.
Please be praying for a peaceful transition home for Mom and for Dad’s healing to continue in such a great way.
