Making progress!

Steve has made some slight but good progress in the last couple of days. His fever has come down and he has been at normal temperatures for the last 24 hours. They continue to run tests to understand why he had such high fever but switched him to a new antibiotic which seems to have helped. Steve is also starting to respond to commands, which is a big step forward since he hasn’t been able to do that yet. The doctors are going to continue to try and get him off the ventilator but are engaging with the surgery team for the tracheostomy next week, if he is unable to come off the ventilator on his own. 

Either way, we are hopeful Steve will be awake and talking sometime next week!
