This last Saturday was a rough day for Steve, he was having a lot of drops in his oxygen. The doctors made the decision to switch him to ketamine but by Sunday morning, they had to do a bronchoscopy to clear a lot of stuff from his lungs. They are continuing diuresis to get fluids out which helps with oxygen saturation.

Every day since then, Steve has been slowly improving. He is now completely off the propofol and they continue to wean sedation. His oxygen has gone from 80 to 60 since Monday morning and he is without fever. His PEEP was where they want it to be, but he had an episode of decreased saturation today so they increased this to 16 (ideally, he should be between 8-10). The doctors also want the ventilator output levels to be under 40% or less for 24 hours before they will perform the tracheostomy procedure.

We are hopeful that his numbers will continue to improve and stabilize so the tracheostomy procedure can be completed within the next week. Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we take things one day at a time.
