After stopping phenobarbital and changing to a different seizure medication Stetson started being more awake and responsive….he was slowly being weaned from his blood pressure medicine….they started talking about removing the ventilator but decide to do an X-ray on his lungs just to make sure everythings clear….only to discover the vent was causing a blockage and part of the left lung had collapsed….so they adjusted the vent and tried hard to get that lung up and going only to have the right side collapse the next day….they did different positions and treatments to help his lungs open up again….during these first weeks we lived off of the prayers of our family and friends…our church did multiple prayer chains and we could not have done it without such a strong army behind us….the Drs decided it would be best to stay on the ventilator a couple more days just to make sure his lungs are doing their job properly and once he was completely weaned from his blood pressure medication they wanted to do a MRI and it would be best if he stayed on the ventilator for that as well…. finally on Friday night they did an MRI and the next morning they removed the ventilator from his lungs….he still had to be on respiratory support but the tubes weren’t invasive…. he had to wear a cute little head band to keep his nose pieces in place….This all happened in 1 week of time….thankfully things seemed to level out a bit after this….
