Standing in Faith for Eva
As the end of this week draws near, I see Eva getting spunkier and stronger by the day. She is still so worried about everything. We have to check her legs, feet, face, and back multiple times a day for rumors because she is afraid that they are growing back. We have to hold her at night because she can’t sleep unless she is touching me. It is hard, but we have to keep going and we have to find the good in everyday.
Eva is super excited to be turning 13 on Sunday. Although normally a big deal, this one is even bigger. She has been so sick and she is ready to walk through new doors to a healthy Eva. She is still struggling with her bladder issues, but as long as she drinks all day long and stays away from caffeine, she does okay. They told us that the bladder will heal, but it will take time and that is just hard for a kid. Our biggest concerns right now are that Eva has lost a lot of the fire that makes her sassy and she is extremely reluctant to walk. She says it hurts her and wants to use the wheel chair. We keep reminding her that school is coming, but she says it will be fine.
Our first appointment on the new medication is tomorrow at 12:30. We will be meeting with her team and the infectious disease doctors. As much as she worries about these appointments, we do too. Inevitably, these appointments create anxiety, worry, and sleepless nights. Pray for us and pray for Eva.
As most already know, God provided me with a different job that offers some more flexibility for Eva and I begin work on Monday. I am working so hard to remind myself that every day is a gift and to look for God everywhere. He is in a smile, in a gift from a neighbor, or in some Golden Girl’s lip gloss.
Our biggest need, as always, is prayer.
