Hi everyone!
Happy September. It has been a process of getting Sienna into a school program again but unfortunately we are still waiting for a nurse in order for her to go. In the meantime, she is continuing to go to her therapies everyday and is doing great. Her therapists began using a hensinger collar with Sienna during therapies which is providing her the extra support she needs to help maintain head control as well as freeing up her therapists hands in order to progress different movements/ positions. Combined with her theratog suit , these two therapeutic pieces of equipment make a huge difference for Sienna! She was able to sit independently while supporting her elbows on her therapist lap. She maintained this position for almost a minute!!! Video is posted on IG story if you are interested in seeing as we can only post pictures here :) [IG- cassay_c ] Sienna is continuing to show small leg movements in certain NDT positions and BIG emotions when she does not like it, immediately crying. Sienna also yelled out in anger when mom brushed her hair yesterday and the knots were hurting her. This is the first time since her brain injury that she has done this! She continues to amaze us with how much more aware and alert she is becoming. She lights up the second she sees baby sister, mom or dad.
We are just over 3 weeks away from beginning our travels down to NC for Sienna's first intensive at All kids are perfect! Airbnb is booked, her therapy schedule while there is set. Now we pack up and patiently wait to go. Before all that, we have to travel down to CHOP this coming Monday for Sienna's pulmonology & ENT appointments. Before her brain injury, she was on the path to decannulation. Now, we aren't so sure what her future looks like in regards to her tracheostomy.
Thank you for continuing to support our journey and help make this happen for our girl. We are extremely grateful for our community, family & friends.
