YOU GUYS. What a week it's been! Sienna gave us her first giggles since her brain injury!!!! Mom was putting her to bed and giving her kisses as usual and all of a sudden Sienna started to chuckle. Mom stopped giving kisses and then did it again and same reaction!!! She did not have her speaking valve on so there isn't an actual giggle sound but you can see the huge smile on her face and the change in her breathe-y laugh. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. This is the moment we have been waiting for- a glimpse of our sweet Sienna!! Video posted on Cassandra's IG story for those that want to see this joy!! (cassay_c)

Last Saturday on Sept 26th we celebrated the 4th anniversary of Sienna's first ever open heart surgery( only to find out it was the 1st out of 3 open heart surgeries). It is hard to believe that 4 years ago we handed over our 2 month old baby girl to the surgeon and trust that he repair her heart to function properly. What a journey it has been since that day. While Sienna's heart function remains stable to this day, she unfortunately still has 1 more open heart surgery one day in the future to replace her melody valve ( jugular vein of a cow placed inside a metal wire frame in the place of her mitral valve that was severely leaking) for a mechanical valve. We dread that day to come but for now she continues to get her echo every 3 months to monitor her heart function.

Last but not least- TOMORROW is the day we drive down for her first DMI intensive at All kids are perfect in Cary, NC! We are so excited and anxious to see what comes of it!! We will update as much as possible while we are there. :)

Thank you SO so so much to each and everyone of you that has donated ( continues to donate), liked, shared this page and supported Sienna/us emotionally. We couldn't have made these DMI intensives a reality without the support of this community. Our big goal still is to get her stem cells next year so please continue to share this page within your individual communities.

Much love,
The Caines Family
