Todd has been running a low grade fever for a couple of days. He has also been in excruciating pain (from the cancer as well as the "chemo bomb"). That pain will actually increase as they started Saturday with some injections to help his stem cells produce better but it also increases muscle and bone pain, too.
Todd never complains outloud but let's just say he is pretty miserable. Yesterday we had a turn of events with his fever going higher than they like (they worry about neutropenic fever) and a skin rash around his PICC line that spread down his arm rather quickly and ended up being Cellulitis.
They immediately start him on IV antibiotics as he has no immune system and continue to give him 3 rounds of it every day. He has bottomed out as far as all of his numbers go and his neutrophils are at 0. He keeps running fevers so in the meantime, they try to figure out where the fever is coming from and watch him. The fever could also just be from the stem cells. But, they have to do a process of elimination. They are hoping his neutrophils will start to rise by the end of next week sometime. Today he also had to do Platelets as they had plummeted and needed that infusion. How grateful we are for those who donate blood for situations like this!
We would love your prayers and faith that his fever will go away, that his stem cells will graft and his neutrophils will start to go back up and that the pain will subside.
We truly feel so blessed and loved throughout this journey. It has NOT been easy but so many people have truly lifted our family and carried us. We see miracles, we feel the love and we are so grateful.
Thank you so much for your love and prayers and being there for our family.
