An Accessible Home for Roman & Stella
Happy New Year! We hope you all rang in 2026 surrounded by love and positivity.
We had a very full holiday season, which unfortunately included a string of illnesses in our home that lasted almost a month and landed Roman in the hospital for a few days around Thanksgiving. He had another quick trip (less than 24 hours) to the hospital again in December, but thankfully, we are all in the clear now (and truly hoping it stays that way).
One really exciting thing that happened at the end of 2025 is that we FINALLY completed our bathroom renovation! It is now fully handicap accessible, and it has already made such a huge difference in our daily lives, especially when it comes to bathing the kids.
We were able to have $20,000 covered through Medicaid, and the remaining $12,000 was made possible through help from our parents and by using funds from Roman and Stella’s STABLE accounts (which are essentially savings accounts we started for them designated for medical-related/care needs). We are incredibly grateful this project is done, but we do still have a handful of accessibility projects ahead so we can continue providing safe and supportive care as they grow. As always, any support means more than we can properly put into words.
We also kicked off 2026 in the most special way... by celebrating Stella’s 6th birthday on January 11th!
Six feels so big. There were moments early on when we weren’t sure how many birthdays we would get to celebrate with our children, so every single one feels like a gift we hold very, very close to our hearts.
After the busyness of the holidays, we kept things low-key and let Stella choose how she wanted to celebrate (using her AAC device). She picked the art museum. We spent the day with family, doing crafts, looking at art, and just soaking in being together. It was simple and perfect for our girl.
We are constantly reminded how lucky we are to have a community that loves our children so deeply and shows up for our family again and again. Your messages, support, and generosity carry us through some of the hardest days.
If you feel called, we would love to invite you to donate $6 in honor of Stella’s 6th birthday to help us continue providing the care she needs and celebrating many more birthdays with her.
From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for loving our kids the way you do. 🤍
Wishing you all a joyous & healthy 2026.
With love,
Jillian and Donald Arnold
