I have so much to be grateful for today.
It’s been a rough week with pain, nausea, and weakness. After spending Thursday afternoon/evening in an overcrowded ER, without the ability to be admitted in hopes of receiving TPN and a liver biopsy, I was able to get IV fluids and care at my primary care doctor’s office today. We were also able to review my bloodwork and oncology notes with my doctor.
My workup indicates that my primary cancer is very likely colon cancer, in my cecum.
I am grateful that my liver is functioning well despite being very agitated, which means I am able to take pain medication. I am grateful for healthy kidney and pancreatic function. And I am grateful that the oncologist has asked to fast track my liver biopsy and schedule getting a port implanted (with LOTS of persistent pushing from my sister-advocate, Kate). A port! This means that my cancer is TREATABLE - an answered prayer that has me rejoicing today.
I’m am also extremely grateful for the support that I and my family have received this week. Grant and I have been brought to tears many times by the kindness and generosity of our community. Please know that I read every note, and appreciate every gesture. You are all giving me strength. I have so much to fight for.
With joy,
Sarah
While I got my fluids, my twin sister Kate was down the hall getting an ultrasound of her baby girl. ♥️
