Firstly, thank you all for the love and your meaningful words and messages! I will add some options for meals as soon as I have a solid start date for chemo.
Currently, I’m sitting in a little room at Longs Peak Hospital being still and waiting for a PET scan. Yesterday, the chemo port went in while I was under general anesthesia and the process went smoothly. The day before that was getting samples for my additional biopsies needed according to what the MRI picked up. Even as a person in healthcare, I’ve learned an amazing amount of information over the last 2+ weeks.
It’s different being the patient. We use these blue gowns that have old metal snaps for the sleeves at the inpatient rehab where I work. There’s usually a 60/40 chance that at least 1 snap is missing. Yesterday when the RN handed me the same blue gown, sure enough, the top snap wasn’t there, so I had a little off the shoulder gown situation. Accompanied by the bright yellow gripper socks. It was an odd feeling being the one in the gown and grippers vs the one in scrubs handing them over. It has been a good exercise, and every person involved in my care has been great: professional, kind, and clearly good at their job.
I am hopeful that we’ll have all the baseline information and a start date for chemo by the end of the week.
